“I believe that healing requires giving up the chase and turning towards that which we try to escape.”
Many of us spend our lives chasing after the things we “should” be doing, feeling, or wanting, while running away from the natural pain of being human. I believe that healing requires giving up the chase and turning towards that which we try to escape.
My therapy style balances both acceptance and change and I believe that both can exist at the same time. To move towards a life worth living, you must first accept where you are in the moment. Acceptance of this kind can be the foundation towards building a life led by your personal values instead of fear.
I use a mix of behavioral therapies – including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) , dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)– to aid my clients in identifying the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that will move them towards a life that they value. Mindfulness is an integral part of this practice as it allows us to pay attention to that which is effective and let go of the thoughts, feelings and urges that keep us in a cycle of suffering.
